Paxton Danes Basic Policies

We welcomed the first great dane into our lives in early 2002. From that day forward we have been in love with this noble, loving, loyal and funny breed. After more than 20 years living large with our danes, the responsibility of owning and preserving this breed is our primary focus. As breeders, we know that every litter produced will impact the future of this wonderful breed as a whole, and this commitment is not taken lightly!

We are not a frequently breeding kennel. Each litter is thoughtfully planned and breeding partners/pedigrees carefully researched to improve. We strongly believe in and support proper health testing to a degree that meets or exceeds the guidelines put forth by the OFA/CHIC and the GDCA parent club.

I am a strong supporter or Limited Registration and age appropriate spaying and neutering of companion animals and require this by contract.

REMEMBER ~ THIS IS NOT JUST A PUPPY. IT IS A FAMILY MEMBER AND A LIFELONG COMMITMENT!

As mentioned, we do not breed frequently. We produce thoughtfully planned health tested litters when we plan to keep a puppy ourselves. It is not our intent to ever produce large numbers of puppies, we breed for ourselves and those to come to us for a Paxton Dane puppy.

Our goal is to breed thoughtfully and responsibly for type, temperament, structure, health and longevity. Every decision is made in an effort to preserve the nobility, form, function and history of this wonderful breed. We endeavour to produce great danes that are good representatives and great ambassadors of the breed. They absolutely should be happy, healthy, dependable and of sound mind and body!

These devoted and noble creatures are a big part of our lives and a favorite pursuit. They live with us in our home as members of our family ....... The are for love, for life, and for show!

It is true ~ There is nothing like the love of dane!

Paxton Dane puppies leave our home with the following:

Contract of Sale/Purchase agreement
AKC Registration
4 generation pedigree
Micorchip identification, tag and information
Vaccination and health record
A blanket and toy used by the litter
Sample of food currently being fed
An Extensive folder with important health feeding, training, crate information
Lifetime breeder support ~ 24 hours a day, 7 days a week

Appropriate health screening are performed by our veterinarian and/or the OFA before breeding.

These may include OFA hips, OFA elbows, OFA shoulder, OFA thyroid panel, OFA eye exam, cardiac screening that include an echo, as well as any pertinent genetic testing.

We support and adhere to the Great Dane Club of America's Breeder's Code of Ethics.

No puppy will leave before the age of 8 weeks or without a signed contract of sale/purchase agreement and a reference check. We strongly prefer properly fenced yards, and please be aware a home check may be asked for. I know this seems like a lot but you should be happy that we care and place our puppies so carefully.

I extensively screen prospective buyers and puppies will only go to approved companion or show homes

Companion puppies will be placed on AKC Limited Registration and a spay/neuter agreement.

Show puppies will be placed on a co ownership with a show/ breeding contract/agreement.

All puppies will have been started on basic house, leash and crate training. They are raised with love and all the comings and goings of a busy household. Puppies will have been examined by a licensed veterinarian. We are an involved household and employ ENS, Avidog, and Puppy Culture principles in raising our puppies. We actively involved in the dane community and are members of the Monterey Bay Great Dane Club and the Great Dane Club of America.

Cropping is a very personal decision, and the aftercare requires a lot of hard work and diligence.

Cropping when done is done by a veterinarian and is at the cost and risk of the purchaser.

We prefer that our companion puppies remain uncropped.

WE RESERVE THE RIGHT TO REFUSE A PUPPY TO ANY HOME WE FEEL IS NOT SUITABLE!

Thank you for your interest in our danes.

If we are between litters we would be happy to have you keep in touch with us, help refer you to a reputable rescue or other breeder, and/or answer any questions that you may have about great danes in general.

Quality is a choice.
Our Commitment to Excellence.

Thoughtfully Bred Fawn and Brindles since 2008
